Dakshin Endeavours

I conducted a marine biology research project in Rameshwaram, India, with Dakshin Endeavours. I researched how the health of Thalasia, a certain type of seaweed varied with water depth. One of the biggest challenges was accounting for the effects of tide on water depth, since it took several hours to collect all the measurements, and the tide changed water depth substantially. I noted the times of each measurement, and used the tide's rate of change to find each measurement as if it had been taken at low tide. In my presentation, I plotted a graph of water depth against overall health, and analyzed various possible trends. Overall, I would say that my experience with math definitely facilitated the research process.
